Facebook Integrated applications for business.

Many people have heard of Facebook apps such as Instagram, Pinterest. These apps help us express ourselves more. However this concept of of extended expression is not often understood by businesses. The apps a business portrays on its Facebook page as its original hard coded content, their ease of use and ingenuity can force a major upswing of interactions in sales and clicks.

I am a partner in a web development firm, and one of my responsibilities with respect to new clients is identifying their needs. For example, if we were to set up the social networking for a downtown night club. We might identify and purpose to the business that it has a need for a hard coded gallery app on its Facebook page, through which all the traffic to view all the photos from a particular event can be routed to the website from the Facebook page, rather than stay on Facebook through its own proprietary gallery page.

In the same night club scenario we may also identify the need for Facebook to website integrated calender and booking system, in which customers can view event information, rsvp, or even book tables right from the Facebook page.It is surprising to see how many small business forgo this easy and inexpensive form of expressing their business.

  1. Great post Zee! I find it really interesting the direction Facebook is going lately. There seems to be a big shift with using Facebook in the sense that you are talking about, brining people to a page for not only social networking but using it as a reservation platform, thus gaining fans and eventually social reach.
